In the fast-growing field of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), ensuring the structural integrity of critical components such as helicopter blades is key to achieving safety, reliability, and outstanding performance in real operations. At ALTER Technology, we partner with the most innovative companies in the sector, delivering customized testing solutions that meet the highest technical standards.

The Challenge

UAVOS set out to validate the structural performance of its next-generation helicopter blades under extreme load conditions—replicating the real aerodynamic forces of flight: lift and centrifugal force. The challenge? Apply these loads with absolute precision, free from disturbances, while recreating an operational environment inside the laboratory.

Our solution

ALTER Technology designed and carried out a full-scale structural overload test, which included:

  • A tailored test setup, engineered around the aerodynamic profile of the blade.
  • A whiffle-free mechanism, ensuring smooth, precise, and disturbance-free load application.
  • High-accuracy calibration, perfectly aligned with the component’s dimensions.
  • Controlled application of UAVOS-defined loads: up to 350 N of lift and 7390 N of centrifugal force, within a system capable of reaching 850 N and 9000 N respectively—delivering a solid margin of safety.

The results

  • Test successfully completed.
  • All UAVOS technical requirements fully achieved.
  • Structural robustness of the blade validated under extreme conditions.
  • Proof of ALTER’s adaptability to specific UAS components with unmatched precision.

The impact

This collaboration reinforces ALTER Technology’s role as a strategic partner for advanced UAS testing. By working alongside UAVOS, we showcased not only our technical expertise but also our commitment to driving innovation in critical structural validations—paving the way for safer, more reliable, and higher-performing unmanned aircraft.
