ALTER Technology has granted the C3 class certification, in accordance with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945, to the HIGHDRA unmanned aircraft system (UAS), developed by Starcopter GmbH, a drone manufacturer based in Germany, focused on delivering high-performance UAS solutions tailored for professional applications.
The HIGHDRA features a modular design, a maximum payload capacity of 10 kg, and flight times of up to 35 minutes, making it suitable for a wide range of professional drone applications such as aerial surveying, mapping, and cinematography. Its configuration also allows for easy transportation and adaptability to various operational environments.
The certification campaign conducted by ALTER Technology involved flight and laboratory testing, along with a comprehensive review of the technical documentation. All activities were carried out in accordance with the requirements established in Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 and complying with the applicable prEN 4709-00X standards. The successful outcome of the evaluation led to the formal issuance of the C3 class certificate, confirming that the system meets the regulatory criteria for UAS intended to operate under the C3 Open Category within the EU airspace.
As the first Notified Body in Europe designated under Regulation (EU) 2019/945, ALTER plays a key role in supporting UAS manufacturers by providing testing and certification services. Currently, an increasing number of drones manufacturers are actively pursuing certification to ensure their systems comply with the EU regulatory framework. The successful C3 certification of the HIGHDRA marks an important milestone for Starcopter GmbH as a German drone manufacturer, and for ALTER Technology in its mission as a trusted conformity assessment body.
At ALTER, we remain committed to facilitating safe, compliant, and efficient market access for drone manufacturers, through reliable and impartial evaluation processes.
