Challenge

The manufacturer Drone Volt faced the challenge of ensuring that its unmanned aircraft system, the KOBRA, fully complied with the applicable European requirements for marketing. The objective was to successfully complete the testing campaign and certification process necessary to obtain the CE Marking, including classification as a Class C3 UAS under the European regulatory framework.

Solution

  • Radio, EMC, and Safety testing to comply with the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) and Machinery Directive (MD)
  • EU-Type examination certification in accordance with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 for a Class C3 UAS.

Results

  • Complete campaign of laboratory and flight tests with satisfactory results.
  • Positive validation of the KOBRA technical file.
  • Issuance of the corresponding certificate for C3 class marking.

Impact

For the manufacturer, the certification allows it to formally declare that the KOBRA complies with the requirements applicable to CE marking, facilitating its commercialisation in the European market with full regulatory guarantees.

For our organisation, this project reinforces our technical capacity to evaluate and certify complex UAS systems, highlighting the active collaboration of the customer throughout the process.

This case also demonstrates that regulatory compliance is no longer optional: manufacturers increasingly recognize that certification in accordance with the European framework is a strategic element for accessing and maintaining a presence in the market.
