The assessment is according to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945.
This Regulation lays down the requirements for designing and manufacturing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) that are intended to operate under the rules and conditions defined in Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/947 and remote identification add-ons. It also describes the type of UAS whose design, production, and maintenance shall be subject to certification.
This first-ever C3 Class Label Certificate is the most complex in the Open Category, including UAS up to 25 kgs, due to the requirements involved. The process consisted of laboratory and flight tests, including MTOM, DRI, Light testing, Maximum Height, and Low-Level Battery, among others.
With this certificate, ALTER consolidates its position on the UAS Certification market after being the first Notified Body for the DR 2019/945 and being the first to issue a C3 Class Label Certificate, and is currently testing drones from the world’s two largest manufacturers to obtain the class label.

Requirements relating to notified bodies
UKCA marking is the new UK product marking used for goods placed on Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland). At the same time, Northern Ireland remains within the single market. It covers most goods that previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods. Moreover, it applies to sprays.
Stakeholders provided EASA with useful information responding to the NPA 2021-09 (open consultation). EASA analyzed and reviewed this information and developed the ED Decision 2022/002/R.
ENAC certified ALTER to carry out conformity assessment of drones in the open category. Now, they wants to extend it to the specific category.
ALTER becomes the first Notified Body in Europe conformity according to Regulation 2019/945 to assess drones
Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/945. Alter Technology became the first accredited body to carry out this activity in Spain and Europe.
This accreditation allows Alter Technology to apply for the relevant notification to the Spanish Aviation Safety Agency and, once notified, to start offering its services in the market.
